Lynelle Bagwandeen is the Company Secretary and General Counsel or head of legal of Netcare Limited. She has held this position since 1 March 2011 and was promoted tothe company’s executive committee in 2012. She was appointed as a director to the board of the Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA) in 2015. She was also asked to joined the board of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries in 2018 and chairs the membership committee.
Her background includes providing corporate governance and legal advice to two large national banks and an international mining house which included work on foreign listings in London in respect of the AIM. She completed her articles at a large national law firm and was admitted as an attorney in 2002.
Her area of expertise remains corporate governance and enhancing compliance with due regard to health legislation and the Companies Act. Her master’s dissertation was oncorporate governance and was invited to be published as a book entitled The Role of Disclosure in enhancing Corporate Governance
Her qualifications include a BSc from the University of Witwatersrand, LLB (Summa Cum Laude) and LLM from the University of Natal respectively. She is an admitted attorney and has also been admitted as a fellow of the chartered institute of secretaries (FCIS).
